Whisky collectors cabinet

Materials: English walnut, English bog oak, walnut burr, suede,
brass hardware.

Made for a Scottish gentleman, the cabinet is designed for the storage of a collection of highland whisky and crystal glassware.

The cabinet is accessed via a lid at the top, which, reveals a decadent burr walnut serving area and storage for glasses and the 'current' favourite bottle. Opening the front door gains access to the collection and shelves for further glassware.

Materials were selected for balance and harmony, as well as speaking to the flavour profile of the clients’ favourite whisky: caramel and smoke, with leather and peat aromas.

I have great respect for collections that encourage contemplation, conversation and continued consumption.

Technical notes: The cabinet is constructed using mitres to achieve a crisp clean edge allowing for a seamless flow of matching grain throughout the box. The hand curved lid handle reflects the leg frame profile, softening the top edge where you access the cabinet and creating harmony in the design.

Shelves are lined with incredibly luxurious green suede.

Ancient English bog oak is used to line the entire cabinet with interesting detailing carried through on the leg frame tenon and key hole escutcheon.
